The Annual Westcountry Game Fair took place on Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th March 2008 and once again was as popular as ever. Despite the wet weather thousands of visitors poured in to the Bath & West Showground to enjoy the wide variety of countryside entertainment and shopping that was on offer.
New additions, such as the dedicated vintage machinery area proved to be a great success, visitors could be found meandering amongst the tractors, stationary engines and other vintage paraphernalia having been lured out from the cover of the exhibition halls regardless of the falling rain.
After 2007, a year in which many countryside traders, producers and shows were left reeling from the effects of extreme weather, Blue-tongue and Foot & Mouth disease, the success of rural shows such as The Westcountry Game Fair can come as great relief to those who’s livelihoods depend so heavily on the show circuit. It is also important to remember that these events play a vital role in keeping rural crafts and traditional ways of living alive for future generations to experience.
The continued success and support of The Westcountry Game Fair ensures this eclectic countryside event will return for many years to come, aiming to build on the attractions that bring interested visitors back year after year.
